| Research field | The research field intends to clarify the low-frequency large tsunami events in the past based on the geological evidences such as the tsunami deposits. Moreover, the research field will conduct basic researches closely with the various fields related to engineering and disaster science in order to contribute to the future tsunami disaster prevention. The candidate should have experiences taking an initiative to conduct geological surveys of the tsunami in Japan and other countries, and should be able to conduct numerical modeling in order to clarify the low-frequency large tsunami events. Moreover, candidates should conduct interdisciplinary researches in collaboration with researchers around the world. |
| Qualification Requirements | The successful applicant will have a Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Disaster Science or a related discipline. For applicants at the Associate Professor level, relevant postdoctoral experience and demonstrated potential for excellence in research will be required. Applications at the Professor level will require all of the above plus a well-established research program with a record of extramural funding. |
